ABOUT FENG SHUI

Much more than just the positioning of objects, Feng Shui is part of a comprehensive holistic health system that has been practiced for thousands of years in China and other parts of Asia.

Your surroundings, both seen and unseen, determine the quality of your life and how you express the unique essence of who you are. Using good design sense and a sound understanding of factors that support and nurture human health and daily activity, Feng Shui brings an element of intention and awareness to your experience of yourself and others which begins the process of positive shifts in your life and work.

Literally translated as “wind” and “water”, Feng Shui is the original “green” and “sustainable” movement, developed as a way to live in harmony with one’s environment. Based on observation and interaction with the cycles and rhythms of life, Feng Shui addresses energetics, known as “chi” or life force, as well as tangible physical reality.

Using both this energetic and physical understanding of our world, Feng Shui takes into consideration larger patterns of sun, wind, water, weather, geopathic and geomagnetic stress, and a building’s placement within the landscape.

On a more personal level, Feng Shui is also concerned with such things as air quality, noise levels, light, appropriate building materials, and lifestyle habits that influence and affect wellbeing, relationships, and other important factors in your life.

Some more esoteric tools in Feng Shui include:

  • Chinese Four Pillar astrology, which determines a person’s fundamental strengths and weaknesses as well as personality, luck cycles, and lucky elements;
  • Ming Gua for personal best directions to sit, face, and sleep;
  • 9 Star Ki for personality assessment as well as best times and directions for travel;
  • Flying Star for determining the most beneficial placement of objects and uses of a building over time; and
  • Ba Zhai and Ba Gua for determining prevailing energies in various sections of a building or property

I combine this ancient wisdom with modern knowledge to address the needs of contemporary living, including assessment of electromagnetic stress, biological effect of building and household materials on occupant health, and the effects of environmental, personal, and professional stressors that modern life entails.
